Freedom to Operate Opinions
Freedom to operate opinions address whether or not a proposed product will infringe one or more third party patents. Such an opinion is generally sought at the beginning of technology development when the client is considering the costs and benefits of a particular project. An analysis of this type is useful in identifying the risks associated with development of a product line. To the extent that pertinent patents or other problems are identified, a company can make adjustments to their development process prior to investing significant funds.
